Enrollment vs. Expenditures, 1998-2010

Student population up 9%; expenditures up 87%!

District 39 is claiming that the 9% pupil increase (318 children) since 1998 is one of the three main causes of the current $5.5M deficit. The price tag for the additional students, according to the District, is $13,060 each, or $4.2 million per year. But, look at how they’ve let expenditures increase 87%, more than a ninefold rise over that period. And, again using the District’s own Report Card data, per-pupil expenditures have risen 95% over the same time span. No wonder the spending is out of control!
